According to the bill of duties of professors, each professor has three main duties: teaching, research, and activities that are entrusted to the internal committees of the university and department. Therefore, research is one of the basic duties of professors so that, in addition to teaching, a scientific institution can also become a center for the production and development of science. Mawlana Jalaluddin Muhammad Balkhi University has a scientific research center that operates at the university level and its sub-committees are also active at the university level.

Job Description of the Scientific Research Center:
- Cooperation with scientific research committees of universities, in holding scientific and research conferences, at the national and international levels.
- Establishing and consolidating communication and cooperation between the scientific research committees of universities with relevant ministries and institutions, to use the results of scientific research in various fields.
- Cooperation with the scientific research committees of universities, in nominating outstanding research works of the year, according to the procedure for selecting the best scientific-research work of the year in Afghanistan’s higher education, to the Scientific Research Board of the Ministry of Higher Education, for recognition and rewards.
- Insertion of scientific research works of the members of the university’s scientific staff in the university’s database and website.
- Collecting reports from scientific research committees of universities.
- Submitting a report to the academic vice-chancellor of the university.
- Arranging research methodology courses for professors, as necessary, in cooperation with the scientific research committees of universities.
